We've built the stages, picked up the artists at the airport, plugged in the speakers and are ready for a party! See you out there.

Festival First Night

It's here, it's here, it's here! But you knew that already. You have printed the schedule, checked the map, planned your public transport, practiced the words to Manu Chao , got the kids excited for Holly Throsby and Tangle and shone your dancing shoes for the Trocadero Dance Palace.

Now, take a breath, relax and get a good night's sleep! The weather gods are smiling, Norman Jay's bus is polished, Brook Andrew's Travelling Colony caravans are in place and the As The World Tipped stage is tipping. There's nothing left to do but have a truly wonderful Festival First Night.

Black Capital Family and Culture Day

Join us on Sunday for another great free event, our Black Capital Family and Culture Day at Carriageworks.

There's Erth's latest puppet and multimedia spectacle, I Bunyip, and artists from the Gadigal Music label - Marcus Corowa, Jess Beck and Duke Box. Sample delicious Indigenous fusion cuisine from Yaama Dhiyaan and keep your eyes peeled for members of the South Sydney Rabbitohs who'll be around on the day.

You can also explore Brook Andrew's Travelling Colony and the 181 Regent St: Addressing Black Theatre Exhibition.

Can Consumption Become Sustainable?

We're excited to announce a brand new event in the Festival line-up; Can Consumption Become Sustainable? A panel discussion presented by Sydney Festival and Unilever.

Join us for a lively discussion with chair Adam Spencer and our panel, as they look at whether we can consume more without going beyond the earth's natural limits?

It's free at attend, you just need to register on our website. January 24 at City Recital Hall, Angel Place.

Your musical Festival

The Keystone Festival Bar is open for business from Sunday, with Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro and Electric Empire on that night and Deerhoof and DJ Yamantaka Eye taking over on Monday. Tickets still available for both shows!

Looking for some free fun to round out your night? We've launched the line-ups for Late in the Garden and the Jägermeister Hunting Lodge. Be quick - if you're interested in seeing Tim Finn, Emma Louise or Josh Pyke in the Lodge, you'll need to put your name in the ballot by Sunday arvo.
